Rain today! However, it had stopped by the time we left Cris & Aaron's house and we were just left with clouds the rest of the day.The photograph above is the youth house from the outside. The mural was painted by a local artist who is not a Christian, but Aaron gave him the verses and asked him to interpret it in his own artistic way. It was exactly what he wanted and he was impressed with his interpretation.
This morning was devoted to cleaning the floors and surfaces of the youth house, A Rocha (pronounced "Ah Hosha"). Wow...they were dirty! The walls need cleaning as well but we didn't have time. Anyway, we were able to make the place look a lot better and hopefully it smells better too! The first photograph below is the tiny room in the youth house where we'll teach our classes. The verse on the wall says "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" or something similar. ;) We were able to clean out the front of the room to have a little more space to stand during the class and we worked on checking out the computers. There's an issue with the computer on the right so Eddie may be down to just one for his class. Oh well! It'll all work out! Last night we were able to drop by the youth house while it was open. We met a few of the kids who will be in our classes as well as Menezes who will be our interpretor. He was so knowledgeable of many of the US States. He knew that Montana was the "Big Sky" state as well as "Treasure" state. I told him that I bet a lot of Montanans don't even know their state is nicknamed the Treasure state. He knew about so many of the states and different facts about each. He was very interested in talking to us in English and asking us how we pronounced different English words so he could judge his own pronunciation. In July of this year, he will graduate with his Bachelor's degree in linguistics.
Finally, here's a shot of us, all glistening and shiny after a morning of cleaning. It's not hot here at all but the humidity, especially after this morning's rain, is yucky.
Tonight we will go to Vida em Cristo for the first time for their Wednesday night prayer and Bible study service.Ok kids...that's all we have for now! Thanks for reading!
